Lincoln Corsair: Transmission Cooling - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35/8F40 / Removal and Installation - Transmission Fluid Warmer

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. With the vehicle in N , position it on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35) .
  1. Remove the LH front fender splash shield.
    Refer to: Fender Splash Shield (501-02 Front End Body Panels - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35) .
  1. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Clamp the coolant hoses, release the hose clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid warmer coolant hoses.
  1. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid warmer.
  1. Remove the nuts, the bolt and the transmission fluid warmer.
    Torque: 119 lb.in (13.5 Nm)

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Check the engine coolant level and adjust as necessary.
    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03 Engine Cooling - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35) .
  1. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary.
    Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check (307-01 Automatic Transmission - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35) .
