Check

  1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle. Monitor the TFT PID .
  1. With the engine running in PARK on a level surface make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93° C (185-200° F). If necessary, drive the vehicle until the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93°C (185-200°F).
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.3L EcoBoost (199kW/270PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Release the clamp and remove the transmission vent.
  1. Install the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.3L EcoBoost (199kW/270PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
  1. With the engine running in PARK, remove the transmission fluid leveling plug and check if transmission fluid seeps out of the transmission fluid leveling plug hole.
  1. If the transmission fluid does not seep out of the transmission fluid leveling plug hole, add clean transmission fluid in increments of 0.25L (0.5 pt) until the transmission fluid is even with the transmission fluid leveling plug hole.
    Use the General Equipment: Funnel
    Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A, ) (MERCON® ULV)
  1. Install the transmission fluid leveling plug.
    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
  1. Install the underbody shield and the retainers.
  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).

  1. Install the transmission vent.
  1. Install the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
