Removal

NOTE:
This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
NOTE:
The PMI process must begin with the current hands
free liftgate actuation module installed. If the current hands free
liftgate actuation module does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool,
the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for
the hands free liftgate actuation module following the on-screen
instructions.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

Remove retainers.

Remove the push pins, the screws and the lower bumper
cover bracket assembly. Position the hands-free liftgate actuation lower
sensor aside.

Remove the electrical connectors.

Remove the fasteners and hands free liftgate actuation module.
Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Using a diagnostic scan tool, complete the PMI process
for the hands free liftgate actuation module following the on-screen
instructions.

NOTE:
This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a LIN new module initialization following the on-screen instructions.
