Removal

NOTICE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Remove the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Disconnect the CAC tube bypass valve electrical connector and wire retainers.
   

1. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
   

1. NOTICE: When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.

   • Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC tube.
     
   • Cover all open ports.
     Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

1. NOTICE: When removing any turbocharger air intake system components, make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. All components need to be inspected and cleaned prior to installation or reassembly.

   • Position the CAC tube aside.
     
   • Cover all open ports.
     Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

1. Apply penetrating oil to sensor, using the special tool remove the HO2S .
   Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A)  Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
   Use Suggested Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A)  Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used.
   Material: Motorcraft® Penetrating and Lock Lubricant / XL-1

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. Apply anti-seize to thread of sensor, using special tool install the HO2S .
   Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A)  Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
   Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2
   Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
