Lincoln Corsair: Engine Emission Control - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4 / Removal and Installation - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Remove the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor.
   Refer to: Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Sensor (303-08A Engine Emission Control - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Drain the cooling system.
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03A Engine Cooling - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, General Procedures).
   

1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4, Removal and Installation).
   

1. • Detach the clip.
     

   • NOTE: Use care when moving the secondary EVAP line, to prevent contact with the liquid fuel supply line.

     Disconnect the quick release couplings and remove the secondary EVAP line.
     

1. Release the clip and remove the electrical connector cover.
   

1. • Disconnect the electrical connector.
     
   • Detach the retainer.
     

1. • Detach the coolant tube retainers from the engine lift eye and intake manifold.
     
   • Release the clamps.
     
   • Remove the coolant tube.
     

1. Remove the fasteners.
   

1. • Remove the fasteners and position aside the EGR intermediate tube and cold tube.
     
   • Remove the EGR valve.
     
   • Remove and discard the gaskets.
     

Installation

1. • Install the EGR valve and fasteners, hand tighten them at this stage.
     

1. • Install the new gasket.
     
   • Position back the EGR intermediate tube and fasteners, hand tighten them at this stage.
     

1. • Install the new gasket.
     
   • Position back the EGR cold tube and fasteners, hand tighten them at this stage.
     

1. Tighten the fasteners.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. Tighten the fasteners.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. Tighten the fasteners.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
