Activation

NOTE:
If the vehicle battery is dead or there is no electrical power available, connect an external power source.
Apply the parking brake.

Remove the manual park release cable access cover

NOTE:
The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while releasing the vehicle from park.
While applying the brakes, pull the transmission park manual release cable out until it locks..

NOTE:
The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while releasing the parking brake.
While applying the brakes, release the parking brake.

Disconnect the battery. The vehicle will remain in neutral for emergency towing purposes.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

When the repair is complete, connect the battery.

NOTE:
The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat
while disengaging the transmission park manual release cable.
While applying the brakes, disengage the transmission park manual release cable.

Pull the transmission park manual release cable out until it unlocks.

Allow the transmission park manual release cable to retract. Stow the cable strap.

Install the manual park release cable access cover.
