Lincoln Corsair: Power Transfer Unit - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) – MI4 / Removal and Installation - Power Transfer Unit Input Shaft Seal RH

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment

	100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer
	205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle
	308-777 Remover and Installer, PTU Input Shaft Seal
	308-970 Installer, RH halfshaft Seal
	308-973 Remover, PTU Input Sleeve

Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Remove the intermediate shaft.
   Refer to: Intermediate Shaft (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Position the tool on top of the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 308-973  Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

1. NOTE: Make sure piercing tool stops on the sleeve tool for proper piercing of the seal.

   Using the tool, pierce the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 308-973  Remover, PTU Input Sleeve. , 308-777  Remover and Installer, PTU Input Shaft Seal.

1. Install the screws and tighten until the tool firmly attaches to the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 308-973  Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

1. NOTE: Make sure piercing tool stops on the sleeve tool for proper piercing of the seal.

   Using the tool, pierce the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 308-973  Remover, PTU Input Sleeve. , 308-777  Remover and Installer, PTU Input Shaft Seal.

1. Install the screws and tighten until the tool firmly attaches to the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 308-973  Remover, PTU Input Sleeve.

1. Using the tool, remove the seal.
   Use Special Service Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A)  Slide Hammer.

Installation

1. NOTE: Make sure that the new seal in installed correctly.

   
   Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W)  Handle. , 308-970  Installer, RH halfshaft Seal.

1. Install the intermediate shaft.
   Refer to: Intermediate Shaft (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
